Kearney Takes Road Win Over Discoverers

COLUMBUS – The Kearney Bearcats outlasted Columbus in a nearly three-hour affair on Wednesday night, taking a road win at Pawnee Park 14-5 over the Discoverers. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.

Kearney (4-2) earned their first win of the week with fourteen runs on seventeen hits with two errors. Columbus (1-7) suffers their sixth straight loss scoring five runs on six hits with three errors.

Bryce Anderson began his big day early, as he bombed a centerfield two-run homer to begin the scoring for Kearney. Anderson would end his day with four total runs batted in on two hits, as he also added in a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Beau Skala would add an RBI single later in the first.

Kearney continued to extend their lead throughout the contest, scoring in each inning except the third and seventh frames. Kegan Brand led the way with four hits with an RBI and scored three runs. Karter Lee had three hits with an RBI as well.

Rydge Jackson earned the win for the Bearcats going three innings and allowing five hits and four runs. Talyn Lewis was the next arm up for Kearney, going three innings allowing one hit, one run, throwing one walk with five strikeouts. Gunner Demilt ended the day with a clean final frame, only walking two batters.

The Bearcats have a day off today before preparing for a talented 24 hour stretch, battling four Top Ten teams on Friday and Saturday. The challenge begins on Friday at home in a rescheduled triangular with Lincoln East at 11 AM and Grand Island around 3 PM from Memorial Field.

Kearney then travels on Saturday to Millard West and Millard South in Omaha.
