NDOT: 22 Nebraska traffic crash deaths in March

LINCOLN — During the month of March 2024, twenty-two people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation

  • These 22 fatalities occurred in 18 fatal crashes.
  • Nine of the nineteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, seven were using a seatbelt, and three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
  • Eighteen of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
  • There were two fatalities on the interstate, fifteen on other highways, and five on local roads.
  • One of the fatalities was a pedestrian.
  • Two of the fatalities were motorcyclists.
  • There were 17 fatalities in March of 2023.
  • Only 10 of the 45 vehicle occupants killed during 2024 were using seatbelts.
