LINCOLN — During the month of March 2024, twenty-two people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation
- These 22 fatalities occurred in 18 fatal crashes.
- Nine of the nineteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, seven were using a seatbelt, and three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
- Eighteen of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
- There were two fatalities on the interstate, fifteen on other highways, and five on local roads.
- One of the fatalities was a pedestrian.
- Two of the fatalities were motorcyclists.
- There were 17 fatalities in March of 2023.
- Only 10 of the 45 vehicle occupants killed during 2024 were using seatbelts.
