SCOTIA — Nadine Bane is currently running for the Nebraska Legislature’s District 41 seat.

Bane noted District 41 covers six full counties including Sherman, Valley, Howard, Greeley, Boone, Wheeler and partially covers portions of Buffalo and Hall.

District 41 is currently represented by Senator Fred Meyer, who was appointed to the position in 2023 to replace Senator Tom Briese, who was appointed as State Treasurer by Governor Jim Pillen.

Bane said she currently resides in Scotia and noted her children graduated from Wood River High School. She is a 35-year resident of the state and has experience in home health care, trucking and her family’s farm operation.

She notes she still his a grain hauler for the operation at harvest time.

Bane is also the vice chair of the Greeley County GOP and was elected to serve another two years with the group. In her campaign materials she describes herself as a “Ronald Reagan conservative Republican.”

Her top priorities include making good legislative decisions and said her experiences over the years will help her to craft sound legislation. Bane said she wants to see laws past that benefit senior citizens, veterans, urban and rural families and all people in District 41.

Bane also noted she wants to see children protected from critical race theory (CRT), which is “based on the idea that racism is systematic in the nation’s institutions, and they function to maintain the dominance of white people in society,” according to the Associated Press.

“(CRT) will not pass with me,” Bane said.

Another priority is the reduction of property taxes for Nebraskans.

Bane said she plans on being a full-time steward for District 41 and if elected will hold meetings across all eight counties when the Unicameral is not in session. She said she has already reached out to people across the district who could be advisers for issues that come up.

“You have to be able to work with everybody,” Bane said in regard to how she would build relationships as a senator. She feels she is able to help bridge the divide between people’s opinions.

When questioned about the role of government in the lives of citizens, Bane responded, “I believe government should listen and invoke the needs of the people in legislative bills. Those bills need to be brought by the people to your state senators, then to your committees. It does need to be for all across Nebraska, not just the big cities. Government needs to protect its citizens.”

In conclusion, Bane said, “Nebraskans are starting to recognize the challenge of high property taxes and government policies that are restricting urban and rural economic growth and development. It is time to put God and Nebraskans first before big business and government.”

Speaking to the residents of District 41, “I have heard your concerns, and your needs. The number one is property tax, number two is inflation, number three…is to control the spending at the state level.”

“I will be that steward in the district, I truly believe that a strong rural Nebraska, means a stronger Nebraska for all of us,” Bane closed with.
